Lando is located within the inner reaches of the Passatge de Pere Calders, part of the effervescent and charismatic Sant Antoni neighbourhood of Barcelona which has recently become a very popular destination for local hipsters, accommodated within a warm and industrial feeling hangar space which together with the food served here has been inspired by a cosmopolitan European cuisine which is reinvented here.

The interior design here is a joint venture between the Barcelona based studio Decorner and the restaurant owners Toni Schulz, Albert Soler, Òscar Gómez and Vanesa Virumbrales. A cavernous space that brings together simplicity and good taste, where wood, metal, ceramic tiles and the furniture are the main protagonists in a design that respects the existing architecture.

The space which was previously occupied by a car repair workshop is open plan laid out in an L shaped configuration with a total floor area of 175 sq.m. and space for 70 diners, a central bar counter divides the space into restaurant and bar areas.

White ceramic tiles used as wainscoting surround the space, as well as the turquoise ceramic tile used for the bar, which serves as the heart of the project.

All new elements have been designed specifically for the project, emphasising the contrast between existing materials and providing a strong identity to the space, with a domestic feel in a warehouse type setting. This respect for simplicity and history is also featured in the food as well as the choice of furniture.

The lighting scheme is defined by the collection of suspended incandescent bulbs over the dining area with task lighting provided at the bar. The materials chosen to decorate the restaurant reflect the industrial/ warehouse theme. Window fames for both the inside and outside are black metal, the flooring is polished concrete and the furniture is made from garapa wood, the overall palette of materials is sober and elegant.

The façade, located in the Pasaje de Pere Calders, consists of a triple arcade which reflects the height of the space inside. Its transparency suggests the warmth of restaurant from the street, while during the day, natural light floods the dining area.
