TwoThirds

Less waste = cleaner oceans

15.10.14

The TWOTHIRDS brand was founded in San Sebastian in 2010 inspired by the unique Basque city, its ocean air, surfing, creative energy and environmental appreciation of one of its defining physical characteristics: the Cantabrian Sea. The brand first moved to Barcelona last October (the first shop was located on Duc de la Victoria) bringing with it the maritime inspiration, as its name implies "two thirds" of our planet is covered by water and which is increasingly under threat from man made pollutants.

Two thirds of our planet is covered by oceans so it’s probably about time that we all woke up to their importance. With its headquarters in Barcelona TWOTHIRDS is inspired by all things oceanic, the surf and sea creatures making their habitat there. “Protect what you love” is precisely what the guys who started the label had in mind when they began designing their clothing. The vast majority of the articles here are either recycled or organic as well as being manufactured in Europe.

True to its principles of bringing together urban and grown-up design with ocean conservation TWOTHIRDS has opened a new shop in the Born neighbourhood, the inauguration featured an exhibition from one of the company art directors, Emil Kozak. One Man's Trash Is Another One's Gold is an original exhibition where Kozak addresses issues such as recycling and the problematic flotsom which is clogging and polluting the oceans. The exhibition will be shown until November 6th.
