Teixidors
Winter cover
Teixidors is a co-operative based in Terrassa (Barcelona) that designs, manufactures and sells clothing and home accessories, made using sustainable wool sourced from Merino sheep as well as yak down, cashmere, linen and silk, hand made on wooden looms, some of the last surviving, in the tradition of the Catalan textile industry that was once so important here. Since its founding in 1983, Teixidors has successfully incorporated fair labour practices and provided economic independence to people with learning difficulties, managing to train its workforce in specialist manual skills that allow them to develop psychometrically, sharpening their motor and mental coordination. The craft of weaving requires concentration, skill and precision which results in unique and one-off pieces. The warp and weave never exactly the same, although the differences are imperceptible, the fruit of a precise age old technique. An always fascinating expression of relaxed, sober and timeless beauty.
At Teixidors the innate sophisticated smoothness of cashmere is captured to create light and insulating fabrics. The hard wearing delicacy of linen, for towels; Silk combined with other quality materials to achieve a taut flexibility; And the honesty of the merino wool for simple and warm pieces that Cornelia Blümli, a Swiss craftswoman based in Penedès, dies using natural pigments (only for detailing, given the natural raw or grey base colour of the wool).

Nébula Plaid
Teixidors presents a new collection to keep us warm this winter featuring its latest additions; The Jazz Fusion collection that incorporates a subtle colour yarn thread of Jazz plaid, a signature classic, now available in new colour tones; The Earth quilt, an homage to the planet, that combines both vegetable and animal fibres (50% organic cotton and 50% silk); The Nébula plaid, certified as Durable Cashmere, awarded to suppliers in Mongolia who specialise in yak cashmere with its added properties - sustaining the Khangaï mountain ecosystem as well as providing work for the hardy nomadic shepherd’s of the Steppes. Also noteworthy is the amount of cashmere used which is kept to a minimum and is sourced from the younger yaks. And in accessories; the Gobi poncho, the Boogie mantelleta, the Jazz III scarf and the Jazz shawl in new colour choices.
