Stella McCartney

By Jaume Vidiella 07.12.12

It’s been some time ago now that Stella stopped being the girl of the moment, someone who people thought was just going through a phase only to be transformed into one of the most successful firms of the moment. No mean feat achieved without celebrity endorsement, even though some (such as Madonna) have chosen her designs, based on normal women choosing her fashion on a day to day basis, because that is where her best work lies, even though her more sophisticated couture is also highly interesting. Being a designer with such a wearable approach, is surprising given that the approach changes with each season. It can’t really be described as minimal, nor indeed sober, her clothes are simple, there is no doubt that she understands fuss-free clothing, something that she exudes in person, however she is also capable of using colour, prints, highly studied patterns as well as audacious colour combinations. The new winter collection brings together all these ideas within a beautiful new shop in Barcelona, as well as offering a really cool collection aimed at kids and her new perfume L.I.L.Y. The always fascinating English taste is exemplified at this warm and modern shop which Stella herself officially opened very recently with a really good inauguration party.
