Josep Abril / Reflections

Josep Abril was the unsurprising winner of the latest edition of 080 2014/15, his Reflections collection was a masterclass in talent, experience and above all a profound love of men's wear. Atemporal and urban, the colour scheme was firmly neutral; grey tones in varying shades, some checked prints and micro polka dot fabrics. The quality of the woolen wear and the techno-fabrics defined a very modern collection underlining the spirit of the Catalan label.

The stand out feature was the tailoring involved in each of the pieces, authentic trompe l'oeil, dungarees transformed into suits, deformed elongated flys and low cut trousers. The overal affect making for a cosmopolitan urban male, with Josep Abril's signature silhouette.

To conjure up Abril is to think of Barcelona, his most recognisable characteristics are those of the city and are proof positive of the quality of designers working here. Although we might seem to be short on creativity right now when everything appears to be at a standstill Josep has managed to come up with a futuristic and avant garde vision, without turning his back on the wearability factor, a key ingredient in terms of sales.
