ZinBar Restaurant
Gourmet luxurious dining
ZinBar is a recently opened gastronomic restaurant and cocktail bar located at the epicentre of Barcelona’s emerging gastronomic quarter on Balmes, near the intersection of Diagonal. The exotic cuisine is French Moroccan which also sets the tone for the interior design with its reflecting surfaces, golden colour palette and feature lighting. The project was designed by Carlos Martinez an architect who specialises in high-end culinary spaces working in Barcelona and throughout Spain. Martinez also designed Speakeasy, Daps and the Papatorio.
Zinbar’s interior design evokes a combination of contradictory concepts, exotic yet familiar, intimate yet spacious, luxurious yet welcoming. The space is organised logically with a seating area and cocktail bar at the entrance and the dining room at the rear. The elongated timber bar counter features back-lit metal mesh panels rather like decorative Moorish screens. The inspiration here is homely, albeit an opulent one, like a lavish but cozy apartment with book shelves lining the walls of the dining area provided with comfortable chairs and banquette seating with particular attention to the lighting which is tenuous and flattering, reflected in the mirrored surfaces that betray this small but nonetheless generous interior. The existing rubble and brick walls have been retained and are treated with a golden-honey tone wash that reflects the vintage incandescent lamps that create an ambience of comfort and refinement.

The word Zin means beauty in Arabic which is appropriate for this space where the interior provides the perfect compliment for a cuisine that can be said to be truly unique in Barcelona, a sophisticated blend of Morocco cuisine and gourmet French cooking techniques.
