Taking place at the same time as the La Mercè festivities a convoy of food trucks will be invading Barcelona's Parc de la Ciutadella in a highly anticipated festival of street food.

Between the 19th and 24th of September (not including Monday 22nd), more than twenty vans, caravans and other trucks peddling food will be getting into gear for the first edition of this mobile food market, which will be subsequently touring Catalonia setting anchor at various stopping points within the territory flogging its wares over several dates, with the intention of "reclaiming the collective and civic use of public space as a way to celebrate and share quality, affordable, healthy and easily available street food." A new initiative that, like its predecessor, the highly successful Eat Street, opts for this mobile format which is increasingly popular but not yet regulated as such.

Van Van includes trucks attended by chefs of different nationalities, spread over several points of the Ciutadella park during the Mercè celebrations. Proposals which include Mr Frank and the butis (sausage sandwiches), Yango Urban Food by Carles Abellan (cosmopolitan 'llonganissa' sandwiches), La Carletta (hot dogs prepared in the style of Berlin, New York, Mexico and Hong Kong), Caravan Made (gourmet sandwiches and sweet rolls), La Jamoneta (bellota Iberian ham sandwiches by Sánchez Romero Carvajal), TocTocRulot (unique sandwiches), Reina Croqueta, Pizza Truck, El petit Bangkok (Thai pad and curries), Kibuka (makis), Mosquito Tapas (dumplings and buns), Eureka Street Food (Californian style tacos), La Cocina Palpita (nachos, quesadillas and tacos), La Calle Kitchen (Mexican cuisine and Asian fusion), Toya Petit Bar (Mediterranean cuisine featuring Peruvian influences), L'Agosarada (creative market cuisine), Cinemadivino (homemade pasta, ragu, piadinas and organic meats), La Crêperie de Mariöne (crêpes), The Hipster Bus (natural juices), Gela't (ice cream and granita) and Skye coffee Co. (coffee). As well as a picnic area, two bars and DJ.
