True Italian Taste
Raffaelli ristorante
Over these last few months there have been a number of events organised around the ‘True Italian Taste’ promoted by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Barcelona. Italian Cuisine is one of the world’s most popular, and with good reason. First there are the ingredients; Italy hasmore than 800 food related products with D.O. recognised by the EU. Then there’s the history, going back thousands of years. Then there is its ubiquity, it’s no accident that pizza and pasta are among the most commonly eaten foods worldwide. And then there’s the unmistakable ambience of the Italian restaurant, where whatever your nationality you feel at home.
This sensation of home is palpable at Raffaelli, a family run restaurant located on a side street in the Sant Gervasi Galvani neighbourhood. The food here is from the Tuscany region of Italy. The ambience is unmistakable and deserves to be visited, just to feel like you have travelled directly without leaving Barcelona. Raffaelli recently participated in an event highlighting 4 regional Italian cuisines served o in Barcelona: Can Sardi (Sardinia), Baccaro (Venice), Galú (Sicily) and Raffaelli (Tuscany).

Tordelli Luchessi con ragú tosaco
Like Barcelona Tuscany is a region where the culinary offering is based on the Mediterranean diet, seasonal produce, sourced locally, varied foods savoured with wine and good company. Starting at the beginning the Rafaelli antipasti features the rich variety of embutidos, olives, nuts, cheeses and pâtés typical of one of the most beautiful regions of Italy. Humble bread is another celebrated ingredient in Tuscan cuisine, the Pappa al pomodoro is literally mouth watering introduction to cooking at Raffaelli, a delightful starter of stale bread, tomatoes and basil. The Tordelli Lucchesi is a highlight on the Autumn menu together with Veal chop ‘alla Milanesa’ and Paccheri di Gragnano (wild boar with ragú).

The homemade dessert options of course includes Tiramisú as well as cheesecake and ice-creams and sorbets. And Raffaelli is also a good place to discover Tuscan wines.
