Tragaluz

New beginnings

By Brian Gallagher 28.07.20

The intensity of the first lockdown period provided an opportunity for reflection for many businesses and indeed individuals. It was a chance to rethink everything in terms of how to move forward in a Post-Covid 19 world. Restaurants also had a chance to press the re-set button and reinvent themselves with a view to addressing the changing food scene that will emerge once things get back to the new normal. And Tragaluz did just that. Without doubt Tragaluz is one of the most emblematic of Barcelona’s restaurants and a favourite culinary destination within the Eixample neighbourhood. Now it has been reinvented, both the interior design and the culinary offering that from now on will feature classic and more contemporary Italian dishes.  And the beautiful surroundings have also been given a facelift. Although the eponymous rooflight is still in place albeit given a more high tech mechanism.

Àlex Durán the guiding light behind the cuisine at several of the Tragaluz Group restaurants together with Matteo Spinelli (head chef) have conceived a menu of dishes that are inspired by the classic Italian food served in Italian restaurants of the great cities around the world. Dishes that reflect the great diversity of Italian cuisine; antipasti, salads, pasta, meat, fish with the rich and varied ingredients of the Mediterranean. Starters like the Fennel carpaccio with burrata, kalamata, dried tomato and lemon, the White asparagus and almonds cold soup with grapes and salmon eggs: Healthy and locally inspired pasta dishes including the Green tagliatelle with spinach, snow peas, asparagus and parmesan cheese and the Aubergine ravioli with tomato, burrata and basil pesto. The varied selection of main dishes include Cesar style chicken Milanese as well as fresh fish of the day like the Grilled Turbot served Puttanesca style.
