The Hall, The Palace Barclona
Art & afternoon tea
If there was a list of the most spectacular spaces in Barcelona the Hall of The Palace Hotel would definitely be included. Its vertiginous ceilings, beautiful neo-classical decoration and elegant ambience make it unique amongst a city of unique spaces. Now the Hall is more accessible than ever before, with an offering that includes an art exhibition, listening to a recital, afternoon tea or just a drink at the cocktail bar located at the end of this grand room. Or just to drop by and appreciate a piece of Barcelona’s history.
The Hall is accessed directly form the reception area on the chaflan, just past the top hat wearing door men on duty at the entrance. A rectangular space with a glass roof light and a series of mirrors that recalls a mini-Versailles. At the far end is a grand piano and down a few steps there’s the bar area. The furniture is organised into a series of seating islands around the perimeter of the room and is ideal for conversation and listening to music. The walls are filled with art works and the entire space evokes a magic sense of living history that demands to be experienced first hand.

The Palace Barcelona is launching its series of exhibitions in the Hall with “Reti di terra” by Gandolfo Gabriele David, a Sicilian artist based in the Basque Country whose complex identity is reflected in canvases that evoke the fishermen’s nets from his native land of origin made with earth from Monte Igueldo.

Afternoon Teas includes a selection of sandwiches, home-made scones, cakes made by the prestigious Pastry Chef Miguel Costa of the Palace Hotel, coffee or tea. For a small supplement there’s a glass of Mirgin Alta Alella eco cava, or R de Ruinart Brut champagne.
