Freixenet, the renowned Catalan company and producer of cava recently opened their first gastronomic space in the Sarrià neighbourhood of Barcelona. Tannic features a collection of wines from around the world and offers the opportunity to discover all the wines, cavas, champagnes, among other wine related products produced by the Freixenet Group and distributed internationally. As well as a selection of fine gourmet products which have been chosen to compliment these wines. Tannic is the first establishment that the group has opened outside of their headquarters located in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. There are plans to open a series of such establishments throughout the city in the near future.

According to Pedro Ferrer, the CEO of Freixenet, “the name Tannic is inspired by the tannins found in the skins of grape seeds which are responsible for adding complexity to the final product and also provide beneficial health qualities.” The space is conceived as “a place of teaching and learning as well as a meeting point for anyone interested in wine tourism, wine culture and anything else related to wine in general” according to Ferrer. Tannic brings together more than 150 products from 21 wineries belonging to the group spread over 3 continents, among which are included prestige Freixenet Cuvées and wines with different D.O.s: Rioja, Penedes, Rias Baixas, Priorat, Montsant, Ribera del Duero and Empordà. In addition to an international selection from Bordeaux and Reims (France), Sonoma (California, USA), Cononawarra (Australia), Tupungato (Argentina) and Mexico. The gourmet products include Nacarii caviar (Vall d'Aran), Dehesa cheese (Llanos in Albacete), 5J cured ham sourced from Jabugo (Huelva), Amatller chocolate from Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Martiko smoked goods and foies (Navarra) and Torres de Dosrius potato chips among others.
