The essential ingredients
There is no better way to spend early Sunday afternoons than over brunch. It ranks as one of the most civilised of weekend activities, laid back, in the company of friends and family or on your own. Generally, there’s music and alcohol involved too, but not necessarily. The brunch at the InterContinental Barcelona has it all and is unquestionably one of the city’s most spectacular offerings. The food is the perfect combination between breakfast and lunch, the presentation is mouth-watering there’s even live music.
The InterContinental on Monjuïc is one of Barcelona’s treasures and has recently been totally redecorated. The buffet style brunch is accommodated on the ground floor of the hotel, just beyond the entrance. Within an area that connects with the open plan kitchen on one side, and the beautiful dining area overlooking the street on the other. A cocktail and bar man is on hand to prepare the Bloody Marys, Mimosas, pour the cava etc.

The InterContinental Barcelona brunch, available from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., will also feature live music performances, such as that of Sabine van Waesberghe.

Diners can also choose how they prefer their eggs, everything from Eggs Benedict with salmon or bacon, Eggs Florentin, Shakshuka (poached in a tomato sauce), Scrambled eggs with lobster and caviar from the Aran Valley or the house special Oyster omelette from the Delta del Ebro and chives. In addition diners can choose a main course, between Grilled beef tenderloin with café-de-Paris sauce, chicken and waffles with maple syrup, low-temperature cooked Cod with piparras pil pil or stewed vegetables of the day in an emulsion of chard and truffle; and to finish a French toast with hazelnut ice cream.
