Street Tacos
A mini holiday for the taste buds without leaving the city
Street food is hugely popular right now; a concept that is defined by its informal cooking, filling dishes and good value for money. Street Tacos, the latest addition to the Grupo San Telmo, is all these things and much more. Located in La Barceloneta which is unquestionably one of the city’s most beguiling neighbourhoods and one that is increasingly becoming a gastronomic hub. Street Tacos occupies the end unit of a raised terrace next to the Paseo Maritimo overlooking the Mediterranean, under the colonnade of an iconic 1950s building with the serrated façade on the corner with C/ Pepe Rubianes. The sea breeze adds the seasoning to the culinary offering prepared freshly inspired by the Mexican staple using local produce and seasonal ingredients.
The menu is reassuringly short, with perhaps 7 or 8 tacos, a few desserts, drinks and a selection of cocktails. Nevertheless there’s something here for everyone, vegan, vegetarian, meat lovers and fans of sea food. The combo offer with a choice of any three tacos and a drink is a great way to discover the different tacos on offer. Options including the Taco y Olé with squid and pico de gallo, or the Taco Arabia with pulled pork, Fish n’Taco and the Chicha Buena with the veal marinated in pico de gallo, as well as the nachos and guacamole or cheese as a side order or a snack in itself. Classic and more innovative tacos to be savoured with a cold beer, a cocktail or soft drink.

Like the name suggests the best place to enjoy Street Tacos is outdoors on the spectacular terrace with views over the Mediterranean, or alternatively they can ordered to go. There is also some seating provided indoors. The interior is lined with corrugated metal and bold graphics in the pure Pop-Art tradition, a timber counter for dining looks out over the view. The food is prepared in plain sight of the diners, just next to the counter. Street tacos is open everyday between midday and eleven at night.
