Pop-up at Blanc, Mandarin Oriental Barcelona
For local based fans of pizza there is no need to introduce Sartoria Panatieri. Since its opening, just before Covid, this restaurant located in the Eixample neighbourhood has caused a sensation. However it is not only famous for the pizzas but also the home made cold cuts and embutidos, sausages, mortadella etc. The over-sized fridges where they are produced can be seen in the rear of their restaurant on carrer Provenza. Now the authentic taste of Italian is available at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, within the very beautiful surroundings of Blanc.
The secret to a good pizza is the base, Napolitan style, made with local organic stone-ground flour, we make it and ferment it for a long time. Jorge Sastre and Rafa Panatieri, the founders of Sartoria Panatieri, have between them worked in numerous Michelin star restaurants. The extra large table looking into the open plan kitchen is dedicated to this pop-up which will be serving alongside Blanc till the end of November. Chefs from both restaurant will be working side by side. And even though the equipment is different to what they are accustomed to the final result is indistinguishable from the ‘mother ship’.
