Named after the surname of the Czech poet Rainer Maria Rilke from the beginning of the 20th Century this new restaurant and cocktail bar, the first collaboarion between the Grupo Kafka (Café Kafka, Bananas y The Corner) and the Grup Confiteria (owners of the Confiteria, Paradiso and Dr. Stravinsky) occupies the old Beltxenea, and is currently considered the place to be.
Located a few meters from Passeig de Gràcia, in an imposing first floor apartment on C/ Mallorca, the interior maintains the bourgeois ambience of its predecessor (as well as part of the furniture and serving dishes), but updated, with an added mise-en-scène by the interior designer Yolanda Vilalta. It includes several rooms for dining, a privee, an interior garden overlooked by a Venus de Milo, a spectacular bar and a secret area kept under lock and key for the really wild ocassions.

In terms of the gastronomy, Rilke is directed by chefs Rafa Peña (Gresca) and Jaime Tejedor (Saüc). The culinary approach here is to take the Catalan recipe book as its foundation, transforming it into a something more persoanlised, without being too complicated, but always surprising and refined, with dishes such as Pheasant cannelloni, Parmentière with veal sweetbreads, oysters and onions, the Mackerel with eggplant and crême fraîche and the Baba with burnt rum, muscovado and lime. The menu is seasonal and with prices are somewhere between 35 and 50 Eur per person.
