Parking Pita
The pita bar from the creators of Parking Pizza
The Passeig de Sant Joan, which since its remodeling has become a foodie epicenter, with a number of restoration businesses settling there, has recently received two new neighbors. The second Parking Pizza in the city, a big replica of the one situated in calle Londres - always full - in an authentic garage of 500 m2 converted into a contemporary pizzeria, and next door, with common entrance and also independent, Parking Pita.

About three years ago, at the cue of Mustafa's Gemüse Kebap, a well-known Berlin kebabs kiosk, Berta Bernat and Marcos Armenteras began to think about the idea of Parking Pita. The recipes came later, the result of inspiring experiences, more trips, many inquiries and tests to improve them. And the happy discovery of this exceptional location in the Passeig Sant Joan allowed them to materialize the new concept. One of those exciting openings, that add creativity, substance, relevance and variety to the gastronomic offer of Barcelona.

Informal atmosphere in a raw environment and yet warm. A single wooden table with a capacity for 30 people, reinforced cardboard stools with space inside to store bags, helmets or coats, and metal workshop lamps with an original DIY paper touch contribute to make you feel at home at any time. For the interior design they have formed a team with the art director Emilio Lekuona.

Berta and Marcos have come up with a brief but sufficient menue, which includes Lebanese flavor entrees ideal to share, all vegetarian options. Falafel, hummus, taboulé, chips with harissa sauce, zucchini latke, smoked eggplant, roasted leek with paprika and roasted cauliflower with thyme and curry surprise, all delicious. It is not surprising, as they have taken carefully chosen the quality and proximity vegetables as well as the condiments from the Middle East, and prepared them in convincing combinations.

What to say about the pitas? Premium version of one of the most popular fast food. Innovative in its composition, but in the right point. Made in situ with fermented sourdough during 48 hours and in the wood oven, and taking care of each ingredient and elaboration process. Beef bourguignon, organic tandoori chicken, falafel, and a refined lamb kebab.
-
And what about the desserts? Difficult to resist. Greek yogurt with spicy honey, fresh baclava and curry truffles.
