Paninaro
Tuscan focacceria
It arrived in Barcelona from Florence, thanks to the creators of Bronzo, and now, given the warm reception of their shop in the Born neighbourhood, for which they are looking for a new location, Paninaro has opened a focacceria in Gràcia, which is open every day.
The premises, with bakery and an open-plan kitchen, and designed by the Espacio en Blanco studio, headed by interior designer Bárbara Aurell, have avoided the cliché by purifying stereotypes, and it is interesting to contemplate the details, for example the M64 lamps by Miguel Milá for Santa & Cole, the Tiptoe chairs, the communal table that invites you to socialise and the checkered tablecloth-like floor on the covered terrace. Italo disco hits round off the ambience. By the way, a paninaro was a young fan of American Way of Life in 1980s Milan, hence the diner aesthetic. Pet Shop Boys wrote this song about them.

Their speciality is the schiacciata toscana, a focaccia sandwich (homemade dough, thin and crispy on the outside and spongy on the inside), which they serve cut in half and stuffed with rich Italian cheeses and cold meats, formaggi e salumi which you can order on the plate if you like. We tried the Santo Stefano with mortadella, burrata and pistachio pesto, which appears on the menu along with the Santa Rosalia with aubergine parmigiana, pesto, basil and Parmigiano Reggiano, the Santa Maria with D.O.P. porchetta, roast potato, scamorza affumicata and mustard sauce, and six more. As for the dolci, we went for the Cannoli San Gennaro with pistachio.

To drink and accompany the panini, a glass of white, red or frizzante wine, Baladin craft beer or an Italian soft drink. And you can wear their merchandise: T-shirts with messages like 'Sporcati le mani' (get your hands dirty), caps and stickers.
If you prefer, they offer take away and delivery services to eat fast and well at home or in the office. Namely: Midweek Session on Wednesdays from 7.30 PM with DJ Daniele Zonza.
