Smoke-house, craft beers & good vibes
The idea of a quality gastronomic offering in a relaxed and informal setting at affordable prices is growing increasingly popular, gaining more and more followers. If in addition, the cusine is innovative and brings a new concept to the gastronomic landscape of the city, then we are talking about a place that is worth trying out. This is the case with Olofson, a new gastro-bar specializing in smoked Swedish cuisine and craft beers, located in the Eixample Izquierda (left eixample) neighbourhood.
Olofson's menu, with almost 95% smoked food, is made up of a selection of small dishes to snack on; salads, hot sandwiches, cold smoked and hot smoked dishes, and desserts, which also have smoked ingredients! All prepared with quality ecological products including vegetarian and gluten-free options.

The home made smoked processes are the key to the preparation of Olofson dishes. In the words of Swedish chef Olof Johansson, "all our smoked products go through a process of different marinades that can take between 6 hours and 3 days. Afterwards, we dry them for about 12 hours and they are smoked for between 2 and 20 hours with alder and apple wood imported from Sweden." In addition to being the author of the menu, Olof and his team have manufactured the oven themselves to prepare cold smoked products.
Amongst the highlights are: Mackerel, marinated for 48 hours, and a cold smoked process of 15 hours with alder wood and finished with a hot wood smoked process, and the Rib of Veal, marinated with a rub of spices for 24 hours and 9 hours hot smoked process with apple wood. Except the meat, which is accompanied by barbecue sauce, all OLOFSON dishes share the same garnish: Gravlax sauce and potato salad with pickles, inspired by Swedish tradition. The pastrami sandwich and the salmon sandwich are also recommended.

The other half of Olofson soul is its craft beers selection. Assessed by Alberto Samaniego, it includes 12 craft beers served from the tap and also some bottle and canned beer options, always crafts however. The varieties range from a Hoppy Lager beer to acidic beers such as the Lambic and other different Belgian styles.

Olofson occupies a large and brightly lit space, semi-open plan and with a terrace on the street, offering different seating options to eat and / or drink: in lounge sofas with low tables, in classic tables and chairs, or in a high table-bar with stools. The decoration, by the interior designer Antonio Iglesias (creator of the emblematic window displays of the emblematic former Vinçon store), recreates an Irish Pub atmosphere, but with Nordic touches in some furniture pieces and an industrial look inspired by the selection of materials (iron, concrete and wood) and lamps.
