El Mercat de Glòries
The Plaça de les Glòries neighbourhood is a hive of activity right now with its perspective focused on its future as one of Barcelona’s key cultural, residential and shopping zones. DHUB will be officially opening this December, Torre Agbar is destined to become an upmarket hotel and an ambitious new urban landscaping scheme has been initiated this summer with the demolition of the controversial ‘anillo’ roundabout. The recently opened Mercat de Glòries is a clear signal of this evolutionary process.

It has a surface area of 3,200 sq.m. and houses a total of 20 separate entities including fresh food stalls, traditional everyday staples like fresh fish, bakers, butchers, fruit and vegetables etc. as well as others which specialize in fast food and sit-down restaurants, with a total capacity of 750 people. The opening hours are from 8 AM through till 12 midnight. A new concept, a pioneer in traditional shopping malls, the result of growing demand from consumers looking for a space that combines day-to-day food shopping with a variety of gastronomic options for breakfast, vermouth, lunch, dinner or informal after-work encounters.
