MR PORTER, Sir Victor

A brasserie with attitude

By Brian Gallagher 18.10.21

The brasserie style restaurant MR PORTER is back! Another sign that we are slowly returning to normal. With the same ingredients and other surprises that previously marked this culinary destination as one of the most vibrant places to see and be seen in Barcelona. MR PORTER is all about the atmosphere, the food, the cocktails, the open plan kitchen, the music and the energy of the place.  Located within the lobby of the Sir Victor Hotel but with its own separate entrance (just next to the Passeig de Gràcia), the big open plan is the perfect layout for a night on the town.

Mr Porter owned by The Entourage Group is in fact part of an exclusive chain, the first to open is located in Amsterdam and there are two other restaurants in Spain also owned by the same group, both in Ibiza: IZAKAYA Asian, Kitchen & Bar and THE BUTCHER. For its part MR PORTER offers a really unique concept that combines in the most natural way imaginable the excellent features of a modern day steak-house, with the eclectic and animated nightlife of the best bars and clubs of the city. For unapologetic meat lovers and anything else that can be grilled.

The menu revolves around the grill, where a rib steak is transformed into a mouth watering delicacy and a sophisticated dish of roasted vegetables that manages to add rather subtract from their flavours. From classics dishes like the Lady Mignon, the Sirloin Steak and of course, the star dish of MR PORTER, the Bone-in filet, to original creations such as the Chateaubriand with foie gras and the Tomahawk, MR PORTER offers a unique culinary experience that celebrates the contrast of flavours, cooking techniques and only top quality products.

The dining space itself measures 300 sq.m. and is decorated with moody colours and more a night time vibe. During the day natural light floods in from the skylights above and the courtyard at the end of the dining space. A refrigerated meats storage areas separates the cocktail bar in the Sir Victor lobby from the MR PORTER area. Timber, marble and leather set the scene, with just the right lighting provided by overhead light ‘drums’. The seating includes scallop shaped banquette seating in a central island as well as perimeter seating and bar counter stools.
