Long live vermouth at Le Bouchon

Mercer Hotel Barcelona

31.03.14

"Savouring a vermouth" is possibly one of the more civilised of Barcelona's gastronomic customs hence the Mercer Hotel Barcelona has recently launched "Vive el vermouth de Le Bouchon." Every Sunday this small and charming gastrobar offers customers its take on this local appetizer tradition (Sundays only between 12 noon and 2pm).

Conceived by the renowned chef Jean Luc Figueras (of the Mercer Restaurant JLF) "Vive Le Bouchon vermouth" consists of several quintessential Mediterranean dishes: patatas bravas (potatoes with spicy sauce), ham croquettes, calamari and sardines in olive oil, accompanied by Vermouth Izaguirre and siphon. All for 10 Euro per person. Jean Luc Figueras explains: "We wanted to recover the wonderful habit of drinking vermouth and so I was inspired by the tapas and dishes that have been retained in local memory and which go down well mid-morning."

Le Bouchon (the stopper) is a gastrobar attached to the Mercer Hotel Barcelona, a more relaxed and informal setting where Jean Luc Figueras (with the help of his daughter Claudia) offers tapas and shared servings as well as other freshly prepared dishes accompanied by a wine and champagne list sold by the glass. Open daily from 12 noon to 4pm and 7pm till 11:30pm, Le Bouchon diners can enjoy the cuisine of Jean Luc Figueras with its francophone touches and excellent prime ingredients.
