Every now and again all the perfect circumstances come together for an unforgettable culinary experience, superb food, efficient and friendly service, an extraordinary location and a view to contemplate. This is the case with a restaurant located 20 minutes north of Barcelona (depending on traffic) on the Maresme in Cabrils, the Hostal de la Plaça. A small family run hotel with a restaurant that as the name suggests is at the heart of the charming village of Cabrils, an old 17th Century Masia that over the fours generations of the same family has become a place where visitors go back to year after year.
With 14 bedrooms and a labyrinthine layout spread out over different levels this is a building to be explored. There are numerous options for dining depending on the time of year, the main dining room looking over the square or some of the interior rooms with fireplaces and stone arches. But the crowing glory is the terrace with its awning and views over the Mediterranean, a glass balustrade ensures that no matter what the weather the temperature here is always just perfect.

There are 14 bedrooms, all different from one another
The décor is filled with countless historical and family treasures, that give the place a genuine soul: from the artworks that are hung on the walls to the original bedside that today decorate the dining room. As well as its undoubted rustic charm the essence of the Mediterranean is everywhere, its sea breeze can be felt against the skin, practically within touching distance from the terrace level.

In terms of its gastronomy the Hostal del Plaça continues to serve with the same care and affection, tradtional Catalan dishes in which the product sourced locally and always in season is the main protagonist, such as the vegetables cannelloni, the rice dishes, the cod or the Maresme peas, dishes that have been on the menu since the very beginning.
