Gringa Barcelona
Street food meets live music meets drinks.
The food truck scene in Barcelona is well established now, despite the fact that unlike other cities here food trucks can only operate on private property, but with Gringa lovers of street food and food trucks are in luck, this recently opened restaurant combines street food, music and drinks. Located on Plaça de Josep M Folch i Torres (which is currently being landscaped) just off the Ronda de San Pau on the edges of the Raval neighbourhood, Gringa offers a simple menu with just a few wholesome choices. But it’s not just food the music and drinks menu also play a starring role here at Gringa.
Gringa is the result of a collaboration between two pioneering alternative cultural initiatives, Eureka Street Food (one of the first food trucks to be established in Barcelona) and Open Music, an organisation dedicated to bringing musical performances to places where it’s least expected; launderettes, vintage clothes shops, second hand book shops, etc.. Although only opened last year in 2018 there was a packed programme of music events which promises to be even better in 2019, see facebook and twitter for details.

The setting is youthful, minimalist and stylish with artworks, neon lights, vintage arcade video machines and potted plants. White walls, concrete surfaces and wood countertops with a terrace outside and an interior that is flooded with sunlight during the day. A nice place to spend time.

The food is ‘taquería’ style, with a selection of burgers and tacos. Reflecting the laid back cuisine of Southern California that combines spices, salsas, Mexican chiles and typical Americana foods. The drinks menu on the other hand includes a few cocktails featuring mescal and tequila, as well as local beers etc.
