Grace

Characterful & adventurous cuisine in uptown Barcelona

By Juan Montenegro 09.01.25

Taking its name from the fascinating Peaky Blinders character, Grace arrives in the Sant Gervasi, located in the uptown Barcelona neighbourhood, with a sophistictaed yet unpretentious culinary offering. Its gastronomic concept is based on dishes designed both to be enjoyed individually and for sharing, that invite customers to discover new flavours, ingredients and preparations.

Owner Patricia Trejo and chef Roger Nasarre, also the founders of Minyam in the Poblenou neighbourhood —an establishment that recreates the ambience of the city's traditional bars— have created Grace from scratch, with complete creative freedom. Their project is both sustainable and personal in every sense: from the selection of suppliers to the wellbeing of the team, as well as authentic cuisine, featuring top-quality products and elaborate recipes.

After first working in the gastronomy sector at Gorria, the classic Basque cuisine restaurant in Barcelona, and after training in the kitchens of Arzak and Akelarre, among others, Roger Nasarre here expresses his own vision of a cuisine that treats the best seasonal produce with utmost respect, sourced from both local ingredients and from other parts of the world. At Grace, the wait service also plays a key role, with some of the dishes being finished at the table, such as the steak tartar with truffle or the smoked Delta del Ebro oyster.

Nasarre's refined technique and his love for fresh produce are evident in dishes that will surprise diners with their flavour, attention to detail and the ‘unexpected’ experience they offer, such as the Grace salad with king prawns and king crab or the black sausage bikini with appenzeller and mint.

With the aim of satisfying all palates, the menu includes dishes such as the home prepared pickled mussels, the classic anchovy and sundried tomato gilda or the prawn tartar on shrimp pancake; sea food suggestions include sea urchin au naturel, scallops with Iberian veil and parsnip, or tuna belly carpaccio with ponzu and sansho; and meats such as duck breast with pears, Pluma Ibérica (pork) with baby potatoes and seasonal mushrooms or the carpaccio of matured picaña. Also, classics such as the Señorito rice or the matured entrecote with fried potato.

Grace's interior design is inspired by the sophisticated and cosy atmosphere of the speakeasies of the 1920s and 1930s. The space has been designed to reflect the elegance of that era, recapturing the essence of its classic interiors but contemporary in style and authentic. The bottle-green colour of the walls combine with walnut wood details, while retro-inspired mouldings and chandeliers that add a vintage touch. Once past the threshold the feeling is that of being in a lived-in space that breathes history.

Grace is open Wednesday to Sunday from 12:00 noon to midnight, with extended hours until 1:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Its uninterrupted kitchen includes ashorter menu of dishes during the afternoons, complemented by a careful selection of wines and cocktails. It has menus designed for groups and for events in cocktail format, perfect for any special occasion.
