Barcelona's emerging food culture

One of the foundation stones underpinning Barcelona’s food culture is its highly developed infrastructure of wholesale and retail food markets. Over time as consumption patterns have changed these facilities have had to reinvent themselves in order to stay relevant and many have adopted a food court or hall as part of the service they offer customers. These recent projects represent a new generation of hybrid food markets/halls that maintain the city’s culinary traditions, ensuring their survival for another generation.
