Festival of cinema and gastronomy
This cinema festival inspired by gastronomy takes place at Barcelona’s CCCB during the 19th, 20th and 21st of October.
One of the scoops for this its second edition will be Mistura: The Power of Food, a documentary directed by Patricia Pérez, starring Gastón Acurio, as well as Mugaritz B.S.O. directed by Felipe Ugarte and Juantxo Sardo, one of those great combinations of creative disciplines that we have become accustomed to from Andoni Luis Aduriz, and Noma at Boiling Point directed by Christian Vorting, that takes a close look at the kitchen of René Redzepi, chef at the world’s best restaurant according to the Restaurant magazine. The festival also includes culinary demonstrations from chefs such as Joan Roca, Paco Pérez, Sergi Arola, Elena Arzak and Josean Alija, amongst others, wine tasting sessions, and healthy cooking an cocktail preparation workshops.
This year Jordi Roca (El Celler de Can Roca) and Franc Aleu will present 12: El Somni, a highly unique project: “a 12 act opera, twelve diners, synthetic music and audiovisual cooking.” The programme also includes fiction films (Comme un Chef); about well known figures on the international stage (Michel Bras, Jiro Ono); Food Design, a revelatory piece on food design; The Big Table, the story behind the only remaining dairy farm in the Hudson Valley (NY), and Sushi: The Global Catch, that looks at the consequences of over fishing to satisfy the global demand for this Japanese speciality.
