The Sant Antoni neighbourhood is undoubtedly one of most exciting emerging new areas of the city, new cafes, new restaurants, new bars and terraces have opened up recently which together with the established classics have contributed to this new lease of life. One of those classics is the restaurant Els Ocellets, on Ronda Sant Pau, 55. This year celebrating its 30th anniversary Els Ocellets (the birds in Catalan) which is managed by Xavier Rodriguez Abellá a member of the renowned family of chefs who also own the Can Lluis restaurant in the nearby Raval. To mark the occasion they have put together two special menus at an unbeatable price of 25 Eur .. One of pica pica and rice with Horse at noon and a five course meal with their pairings for dinner.

The gastronomic offering is based on fresh market cuisine, homemade and traditional Catalan and Mediterranean dishes created by chef Javier Martinez Juan (formerly of the Torre Altamar). The menu features a selection of traditional Catalan dishes that include both favourite traditional and contemporary dishes, such as; grilled mussels, artichoke nests with fried egg and foie, roasted snails, mushroom and seasonal vegetables risotto, foie, fresh squid sauteed with vegetables, Prat de Llobregat artichokes, breaded lamb brains, tuna Tataky, monkfish tail and sea-urchin sauce, butifarra (Catalan sausage). All meat is sourced from a Girona based supplier; Steak tartare, breaded lamb chops, the veal cheeks with Pedro Ximenez sherry reduction and truffled potato. As well as a large menu of homemade desserts and cheese board to finish.
