‘El Mercat’, Glòries shopping centre market, is a gourmet space inspired by the traditional markets of the city. It has a surface area of 3,200 sq.m. and houses a total of 20 separate entities including fresh food stalls, traditional everyday staples like fresh fish, bakers, butchers, fruit and vegetables etc. as well as others which specialize in fast food and sit-down restaurants, with a total capacity of 750 people. The opening hours are from 8 AM through till 12 midnight.

Barcelona residents will be familiar with some of the gastronomic offerings which include Casa Palet, Be Japo by Sugoi, El Rebost de Can Culleretes, Butipa or Mary’s Market, local classics which have consolidated their reputation for excellence over the years. Cooking classes and demonstrations open to the general public are organised weekly within the ‘La Cuina’ area of the Mercat , a specialist space featuring tasting sessions, master classes and live music. The weekly programme of events is updated on a regular basis.

The space is located within the -01 level of the Glòries shopping centre with direct access on the corner of Llacuna with Diagonal or alternatively from the shopping centre. Designed by the L35 Arquitectura practice under senior architect Jos Galán, the materials and finishes reflect the architectural tradition of Barcelona while also including interiors by renowned local designers.
