Desoriente, vegan restaurant
Defying expectations
One of the fastest growing food trends in Barcelona right now is the appearance of new vegan restaurants. This is explained by Gen Z now coming to adulthood who for environmental and philosophical reasons are going vegan. But is also popular with a range of age groups who share the same concerns. The food offering is imaginative and informal, as well as presenting good value for money. These are the principles behind Desoriente which is one of the most recent vegan restaurants to open in Barcelona. As the name suggests plays with customers’ expectations, the dishes defy expectations with options like vegan sushi that visually recreate the original fish version and are packed full of flavour.
Desoriente's vegan proposal is uncomplicated and relaxed, it includes a selection of tapas, sushi, bowls & burgers and desserts, accompanied by a drinks menu featuring six cocktails based on exotic ingredients that inspire the name and flavour (tamarind, tepache, coconut...) and five other options of healthy drinks, from kombucha, lemonade, chai tea, specialty coffee or ginger beer.

There is a very playful atmosphere at Desoriente, the walls are covered with Pop graphics mostly Asian in theme. Neon colours and signs are everywhere and there is a wonderful selection of vegan cocktails. Even though the interior is small it doesn’t feel small and there’s an enormous terrace outside.

The kitchen team is directed by chefs Cliff Ubaldo and Maurizio Gorga, who together have created a new version of unusual vegan cuisine, with taste and style.
