Catalan Bread, a reflective journey
Recently published by the Barcelona based publisher Sd.edicions the book De Pans Per Catalunya consists of an interesting reflective journey and reviews of some of the best bakeries in Catalonia that continue to keep alive the traditional bread making formulas of bakers from generation to generation.
There are so many diverse forms of tourism nowadays; cultural, gastronomic, sports, war, film and now with this book Ànnia Monreal, food journalist and Sd Edicions author has come up with 'Panarra' (bread lover) tourism. The perfect way to get familiar with all the best bakeries in Catalonia (Tarragona, Lleida, Barcelona and Gerona). After several years travelling through these bakeries with camera in hand, the author has produced a photo album illustrating the many curiosities connected with the art of bread making such as; how dough rises, the farmers who grow and sell grain to the bakers as well as the different types of wood that fire the ovens, etc...

Ànnia Monreal (Barcelona 1978) is a journalist and a lover of bread. She has worked in the press and on radio. After two years working for the foodie magazine CUINA she worked for the online edition and is also the author of the online blog about bread: www.breadbites.org
