Contemporary Mediterranean cuisine and vermouth with stunning views at the METT Hotel

By Silvia Micolau 10.04.26

At the summit of Tibidabo, Albarada restaurant and 1925 Vermutería, located at the METT hotel, offer a gastronomic experience that reinterprets the Mediterranean cuisine and tapas.

Astet Studio has designed the interior of a light-filled dining room featuring an olive tree at its centre, incorporating natural materials and a colour palette that evokes the Catalan landscape and creates a serene atmosphere.

Here, chef Rubén Briones works with locally sourced, seasonal produce, with simplicity and sincerity. We tried the Root vegetable salad with sweet potato crisps and a sherry and beetroot dressing, the Langoustine carpaccio with its mayonnaise and caviar, the Hand-cut beef steak tartare with roasted marrow, the Wild sea bass with sofrito and a leek and parsley sauce, the Pork chop served with apple purée, and the Chocolate flan with crispy bread, olive oil and smoked milk ice cream.

We had an aperitif just next door, at 1925 Vermutería. The plan: tapas and small dishes to share, either indoors or on the terrace.

  •

We ordered some gildas, a portion of cured salmon with ajo blanco and some Iberian ham croquettes, which we washed down with a Tarragona vermouth and the pisco sour pictured. The menu included patatas bravas and Catalan cured meats, a dish of escalivada (roasted vegetables) and a cod and chickpea stew, a beef pepito and a txistorra frankfurter.

This new culinary destination has plenty more to offer. If you go up during the day, after lunch, take a stroll behind the hotel: walking along the Vallvidrera road, you’ll see the Temple of the Sacred Heart as it’s not usually seen, the Collserola Tower appearing closer than it really is, the Cruïlles House with its tower —a Modernist work by Puig i Cadafalch— and a captivating view of the Embruixa Bruixes, the amusement park’s aerial train.

  •

And even if you’re not staying at the hotel, you can round off your day at the Valmont Spa or by the pools (one indoor and one heated outdoor pool at the Pool Club). Buy an Assouline coffee table book from their shop or simply flick through it in the Florida Lounge by Lladró, which displays limited-edition or numbered porcelain figurines from The Guest collection, a character created by Jaime Hayon and reimagined by artists from various disciplines.
