Young, fresh and alternative all three adjectives could perfectly describe the latest ‘fast’ food initiative to open in the Raval neighbourhood, on C. Botella around the corner from Plaza del Padró. Chulapio combines an interesting day and night gastronomic offering; crepes and cocktails. An unusual maridaje but nevertheless one that has proven successful, this is actually the second Chulapio in Barcelona, the first in located in the Gótico, on Carrer Ample, 12. The two young entrepreneurs behind this unusual combination are Álvaro Riquelme and Marc Serracanta, barman and chef respectively. Álvaro supplies Chilean charm to the growing chain of Chulapios while Marc who was born into a Catalan family of chefs brings the kitchen know-how.

The secret to making a good crêpe is undoubtedly in the mix, at Chupalio buckwheat flour is used for the savoury crêpes with an extensive range of choices – all of which are prepared there and then in front of the client. There is also a range of sweet crepe using the typical white of flour. All ingredients for the fillings are organic and the crepes are competitively priced offering a good value lunch or dinner option which has the added advantage of also serving after dinner cocktails.
