Celebrating New Year

The Lunar New Year is being celebrated with a special menu at China Crown Barcelona. The restaurant which opened in 2019 is renowned for its high-end gastronomic offering and excellent service. China Crown represents the best of local and imported ingredients with an exquisite presentation. This meeting of East and West is accommodated within Casa Calvet, Gaudi’s first major commission in the Ensanche neighbourhood of the city, and today a listed building. The restaurant occupies the ground floor which used to be used as offices and storage by Hijos de Pedro Mártir Calvet, the textile company that financed the building. Today the combination of Chinese and modernisme style décor is beautifully expressed through the interior design that includes two private dining areas for small groups.

This year the Chinese zodiac cycle will begin on February 1, 2022 and will end on January 21, 2023. The animal of the Chinese horoscope for 2022 will be the Water Tiger, known as "the greatest of beasts", and represents strength, courage and protection. The tiger is the third animal in the Chinese horoscope cycle and many children wear accessories with the image of a tiger to attract good luck.

    The special New Year’s gastronomic menu will be available during the first two weeks of February. A tasting menu featuring iconic dishes including the most outstanding and traditional dishes of the New Year’s meals celebrated in imperial China, such as the delicious Black truffle tartare or the China Crown smoked fish. Also included are the Three shrimp Noodles with spring onion oil and for meat lovers, the exquisite dish of Braised pork with pigeon egg in Laojiu wine. The menu includes a glass of Perrier Jouët Grand Brut champagne.
