The Green Spot

Finally, the weather is changing, and with it the offering at Barcelona’s many great restaurants. For vegetarians and anyone who is into health-conscious eating this is the time of year for autumn / winter vegetables. At The Green Spot (Port Vell) there is an entire list of new dishes for the winter season, in parallel with the typical offering that is featured all year round. Raw materials including tubers and cruciferous vegetables like potatoes, parsnips, Brussels sprouts, cabbage etc. as well as fruits like pumpkin and suash are converted into savoury dishes for sharing or to enjoy individually. Ideal for the winter months, these foods tend to be rich and filling with great traditional recipes easily adapted to the vegetarian and vegan palate. 

The Green Spot is celebrated within vegetarian circles since opening back in 2015, not only for its cuisine but the interior design. The space is organised under a series of vaults while the open plan kitchen faces the street side, on Reina Cristina. The main entrance however is on Pas de Sota Muralla. It was one of the pioneering restaurants that has converted these cluster of streets into one of the city's most interesting new foodie hotspots.

    The Green Spot menu is simply structured, easy to navigate, divided between starters, salads, pasta dishes and pizzas. As well as the desserts and a wide selection of wines (many from Catalonia) and cocktails, as well as beers and non-alcoholic drinks.

    For the fifth consecutive year, The Green Spot restaurant belonging to the En Compañía de Lobos group, created by Tomás Tarruella, is included within the Top 5 of Best Vegetables Restaurants in Spain and in the 29th position of the world's best. As certified by the We're Smart Green Guide, one of the most respected reference guides in the sector that has recently published the world's Top 100 specialised restaurants.
