Cárnicas gráficas

Graphic cuts

By Silvia Micolau 04.02.13

This coming Thursday (the first day or carnival) the Food Cultura foundation will combine two presentations of this book with a collection of graphic and stories with meat as the common thread: a traditional cold meat tasting and a celebration afterwards.

An initiative put together by the not-for-profit self-publishing group Adicciones porquesí and the typography foundation Typerepublic, financed via crowdfunding, Cárnicas gráficas (meat industry graphic) brings together printed graphic from leaves used by butchers for packaging cuts of meat from nowadays and from the 1970s. Everything from naïf images of happy animals dressed in polo-neck jumpers, to more blood curdling images of piglets cutting each other up into pieces. At the back of the book there is a second cover and 7 fiction stories with illustrations.

The event takes place on February 7th, at 1 pm in Barcelona’s Mercat Gran Via (Gran Via, 691), with butifarra de huevo for everyone attending, and at 8 pm, at the Food Cultura centre (Sant Antoni, 41, 1º-2ª), with beer, wine and mini sound system.
