Patisserie brunch

L’Atelier Barcelona

By Brian Gallagher 31.03.22

Brunch is having a moment right now in Barcelona with great demand for this very civilised custom. The new brunch offering at L’Atelier available on the weekends only is inspired by what this contemporary patisserie does best: savoury and sweet dishes combined served in a gorgeous setting. L’Atelier Barcelona is also a pastry school, director Enric Ortuño is the creative force and co-founder. There is a professional workshop ambience at L’Atelier that feels like a working space. Customers can choose between the beautiful interior or the street terrace immediately outside.

The neighbourhood around L’Atelier is the perfect setting for a seasonal Km 0 brunch. During the weekends there’s a street market for gastronomic produce on the streets around the Institut Viladomat and there are several parks such as Jardines de Paula Montal for walks, and a breath of spring.  The basic elements of brunch at L’Atelier are a choice of egg dishes, bread, something sweet and lots of coffee. The pastries and croissants are obviously the main attraction at L’Atelier. Generally speaking a Mimosa or a Bloody Mary is also involved. The alcohol and coffee reflect the social nature of brunch, a leisurely combination of breakfast and lunch.
