Brisa restaurant & bar

Sun, shade and conversation

By Brian Gallagher 02.10.20

This year there is a definite theme emerging with regard to new and existing restaurants, the terrace is suddenly de rigueur for an era that will surely come to be deifned at The Age of Covid. Brisa is a good example, this recently opened restaurant is accommodated within the Palau del Mar in La Barceloneta, a stalwart of a building that stands as a reminder that eventually we will overcome the pandemic. The defining characteristic of this new establishment is its terrace, and of course the food offering which is perfectly complimented by a cocktail bar, also situated on the terrace.

The name of the restaurant is well chosen (Brisa means breeze or wind in Spanish) because even on the warmest of autumn days there is a waft of a breeze coming off the Mediterranean directly in front. Brisa is a great place for spending time with friends and for people watching, with views over Port Vell with its comings and goings. The layout of the terrace recreates the ambience of a chiringuito surrounded with lush planting and comfortable seating. A retractable canopy and heaters means that Brisa will operate all year round, even when the temperatures drop. The inside of Brisa is also worth exploring with its contemporary interior that mixes traditional and modern elements.

Brisa also has an outside bar serving cocktails and other drinks. On one side of the terrace high tables provide great views over the yachts in the port and the Barceloneta atmosphere .

Desserts are another of the good reasons for discovering Brisa, generous portions designed for sharing with classics like Lemon Pie, Carrot Cake with Passion fruit and Mango cream. As well as more avant-garde options like the Fresh Fruit Ceviche and Pisco Sour or the Warm milk sponge cake with Merengue.

Brisa is open to the public, adapting to current security regulations in terms of capacity and social distance. It has a capacity for 160 people between the terrace and the indoor tables. It opens at 12 noon and closes at 1 a.m., and offers lunch and dinner service, and cocktails during the day. It's pet friendly.
