A new option for lovers of Italian cuisine
For lovers of Italian food who appreciate the unique flavours and sumptuous variety of a cuisine that has brought so many renowned dishes to the world there is a new restaurant in Barcelona to investigate, Benzina located in the very trendy Sant Antoni neighbourhood which since the reopening of the market has become even trendier. Benzina is not only a restaurant but also a cocktail bar accommodated within a large open plan space with tall windows overlooking the street terrace outside on the Passatge. A restaurant where the servings are generous and the prices are competitive.
The culinary offering at Benzina reflects the origins of chef Daniele Moretti, who is from Rome originally, where he has created a laid back menu offering tasty dishes with choices that include classic pasta dishes like the carbonara, vongole or al cacio e pepe: Meat choices that include the tasca de cordero (roasted lamb in bread crumbs) vitello tonnato: and seafood options like the octopus and kalamata salad or baccalà al guazzetto (cod fitters in tomato sauce) or the straciatella with prawns and bottarga. Not forgetting other staples of Italian cuisine like the burrata, cecina and aubergine parmigiana etc.. The choice of desserts also reflects the Italian classics like the house tiramisu and dolce della mama, (a freshly baked home made option) or other seasonal options.

Wines are predominantly Italian, including some surprising options little known in Spain. Or alternatively try a cocktail pairing given that the menu is filled with tempting choices, or forget the food and sample the cocktails.

The décor is filled with vintage furniture, plants and vinyl record sleeves decorating the walls which reflect the eclectic music choices that set the mood here, a sociable place for conversation, cocktails and good food.
