Haute cuisine overlooking the Port Vell
Few restaurants in Barcelona directly overlook the port, or more accurately Port Vell, where the sea air, the bobbing yachts and sunlight reflecting off the water create an atmosphere to get the taste buds salivating. What better place to sample Mediterranean cuisine? And Baritimo does not disappoint. Located within the Maremagnum shopping centre, on the second floor together with other renowned gastronomic spaces, this restaurant and lounge club is unique. Its generous and bright interior faces the port and a wide terrace with overhang makings al-fresco dining possible all year round.
The autumn menu coincides with the recent arrival of new chef Juan Luis Dastís, trained at some of the best restaurants of Madrid, Barcelona and London. Some of the highlights on the seasonal menu include salads like the Nicoise with ventresca and the burrata served with artichokes, orchard tomato and natura pesto sauce, scallops and prawns ceviche, braised beef bao sandwich with red curry thay, fresh pasta with variety of sauces and the seafood cannelloni. Also excellent is the selection of rice dishes (the lobster broth, seafood paella or the black rice), the fresh fish and seafood (hake to pil pil with plankton and artichokes, salmon tataki, grilled bluefin tuna, salted sea bass and red prawns); (the sirloin with potato pie with gratin and mushrooms or ribeye tagliata with seven peppers sauce) and of course, their homemade desserts (the cheescake with red fruit marmalade and the coulant with white chocolate ice cream).

Another reason to come to Baritimo is the excellent service, a feature of many of the Costa Este establishments; here Tania Bezakova looks after customers making sure that their experience is optimum. As well as the restaurant Baritimo is also a cocktail bar with a speciality renowned line in Martinis, Caipirinhas and Caipiroskas, White Russians and Tequila Sunrise, designed for enjoying at sunset. All prepared with superior quality labels and fresh fruit, like the famous Piñas Coladas, served with fresh coconut sourced from the East.
