This coming weekend of the 11th, 12th and 13th of April the latest edition of Barcelona Beer Festival will be taking place including lectures, workshops and other activities. This the third edition aims to promote the culture of quality craft beer consumption as well as the microbreweries that produce them both in Catalonia and abroad. This year the festival takes place at Barcelona’s Museu Marítim (Drassanes) where the Royal Shipbuilders of Barcelona constructed naval vessels between the 13th and 18th Centuries, the building was listed in 1976 as an historical monument.  

Over 150 craft brewers will be participating in the festival. Including 55 Catalan breweries, 30 from the rest of Spain and 70 from other countries. Of the participating Catalans producers 20 have been founded this year. Proof that that the craft beers sector is an important emerging market with a lot of potential. Each brewery will be presenting between one and three beers at the festival. Attendees will have over 300 different beers to choose from. Of the various beers which will be presented 30 of then will be making their public debut together with 75 foreign beers making their appearance in Spain.
