Bar Veraz

Back in business

By Brian Gallagher 09.07.21

With Barcelona’s hotels gradually opening up again to the general public, now is a good time to get reacquainted with one of the city’s best gastronomic resources. Some of the finest restaurants of the city are accommodated within these wonderful buildings. Bar Veraz is an example, located on the ground floor of The Barcelona Edition which is next door to the Mercat Santa Catalina in the characterful La Ribera neighbourhood . As well as the stunning interior filled with light and generous tables there is also a street terrace directly outside.

The basics of a good restaurant are relatively straightforward, good quality and fresh ingredients, prepared competently, served in a pleasant setting with good service. And not overly expensive. Bar Veraz ticks all the boxes. Chef ejecutivo Pedro Tassarolo brings a youthful and fresh approach to the menu at Bar Veraz, with a simple but seasonal cuisine and a culinary offering that is simple and easy to understand at a glance. The mains are designed for sharing, between 2 or more, with large helpings and a short but varied selection of dishes, four choices in total. The Ratatouille with seasonal vegetables is beautifully presented and a great vegetarian option. The tapas and starters are also generous and a few could dishes combined would be more than enough for dinner or lunch. The highlights include: Cuttlefish a la Romana (in batter), ‘Bravas’ Veraz, Iberian Pork Sandwich, Red Tuna Tartar, Grilled Aubergine.
