Restaurant with Essence Award for Innovative
The Arcano restaurant, one of the most beautiful establishments in Barcelona's old town, was been recognised in late March with the Innovative Essence award for restaurants with an average price of over 50 Eur. per person; awards created by American Express in the year 2022 and which celebrate restaurants that offer an exceptional gastronomic experience.
Located in a former 17th century stables in the La Ribera - Born neighbourhood, its Mediterranean cuisine with signature touches and the excellence of its dishes are the main reason to visit this restaurant, but not the only one. Arcano is a must-visit also for its charming space, where tradition, history and avant-garde blend to perfection.

The jury of the Restaurant with Essence Awards highlighted Arcano's ability to reinvent Mediterranean cuisine with a creative and risky approach, without losing the essence of authentic flavours, combining culinary innovation with absolute respect for quality raw materials. He also valued the commitment to local producers and the commitment to sustainability in all the processes involved in the restaurant's activity, including service.
Among its star dishes are the Braised baby potatoes with smoked "bravas" sauce; the Slow-cooked egg with leek parmentier and Iberian ham chips; the Grilled octopus with chimichurri on potato parmentier; the Venesoin tenderloin carpaccio with red berries, mustard and crispy capers; or the Braised sea bass with creamy celeriac and yellow chilli citrus sauce, among others. Special mention should be made of its selection of premium meats, such as the Argentinean royal calf ribeye, the Argentinean Angus tenderloin or the National beef skirt steak.

Much more than a restaurant, Arcano represents a journey through time and one of the most charming places in the city, not only because of its ambience - dim lights, fine wood furniture and a unique wine cellar - but also because it occupies exquisitely restored structure, formley a 17th century stables.
The establishment, which previously operated as a restaurant under different management, was reopened by the Quicub Group (Gabriel Buchaillot, Claudia Quintero and Germán Buchaillot) in 2012. With Gianluca Bove as director, Nicolás Limarino as executive chef, Gianpierre Casas Castillo as sommelier and Ricardo Pires Alcantara as maître d', Arcano has become, for many, one of Barcelona's favourite restaurants.
