Anormal Putxet
Not the typical Mexican food
Mexican food as a rule is colourful, varied and packed with surprising flavours, reflecting the enormous variety of regional cuisines and culture of the Central American country. Similarly the restaurants where it is served follow the same criteria. There’s a special energy, noise and vivacity about Anormal Putxet that creates the perfect setting for the Mexican cuisine served there. The colourful logo, the cosy atmosphere, the music and the views into the kitchen reflect the convivial atmosphere that goes with Mexican food. It is the food par excellence for sharing, before even there were tapas there were tacos.
The food at Anormal Putxet is a modern interpretation of Mexican cuisine, it is relaxed, playful and informal. Jaime Lieberman one of the cofounders of Spoonik, the owners of Anormal and a chef, he is a native of Mexico and an artist in his own right. This combination of interests is legible at Putxet with something to delight the eye and the palette for every dish. There are two other Anormal restaurants in Barcelona, one in the Born neighbourhood and the other in Castelldefels. The project initially came about as a response to the Covid restrictions with the focus on delivery but are now as popular as food destinations as for their delivery service.

The tacos at Anormal are served in a wooden receptacle, they are based on the most representative dishes of Mexican gastronomy; the cochinita pibil or the chicken tinga, are among the highlights. The shredded meat tacos, in a Venezuelan style stew, are inspired by the Latin American fusion. There is also options with marinated prawns and pork.

Among the choice of desserts is the Brownie choco-coco, a reference to where chocolate was first discovered, and where they know how best to savour it. And As well as the cuisine the drinks menu features Mexican favourites, like the Michelada, and a variety of Mexican beers. The world renowned Margarita cocktail is the ideal pairing.
