Alba Granados

At twenty

06.03.25

Barcelona’s food scene has changed a lot over twenty years, nowadays it’s characterised by an international selection of cuisines from practically every corner of the earth. The renowned restaurant Alba Granados on Enric Granados is a witness to these changes, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Still true to the founding principle of serving classic Catalan dishes in a stylish contemporary setting. The family business includes three generations of restauranteurs, the current owner Mario Claver can trace the beginnings of Alba back to 1996 with Alba Paris a restaurant founded by his grandmother and parents. Over the years the restaurant has garnered a loyal clientele thanks to the always reliable food offering and professional service. To celebrate this important anniversary clients can order a special menu, with wine pairing that reflects the Alba DNA.

When it first opened Alba was a revolutionary concept, combining a restaurant and trendy cocktail bar with a comfortable terrace on the semi-pedestrianised Enric Granados. This pioneering approach has been replicated throughout Barcelona during the intervening years. Even the street where Alba Granados is located is unrecognisable compared to twenty years ago, nowadays it’s one of the city’s most dynamic gastronomic hubs.

Alba Granados boasts two kitchens, one, open plan, near the bar area at the entrance and the other located to the rear of the main dining area decorated in a luxurious New York loft-style décor. The tables are generously spaced apart with one entire wall lined with curved red leather banquette seating in curved configurations around circular tables. Upstairs the Bala cocktail bar that overlooks the street outside can be hired for group celebrations and there’s also a smaller privée for more intimate groups.
