4 Beer Cocktails

The world of cocktails and mixology is as creative and experimental as any of the gastronomic arts currently taking Barcelona by storm, with exciting new proposals constantly emerging. A new generation of cocktail creatives are taking control at some of the city’s most interesting cocktail bars, both at the classics and the brand new ones. One of the most exciting trends right now is the use of beer as a key ingredient in cocktails, an obvious but nonetheless subversive choice for some. The Italian premium beer Peroni (one of the world’s best selling premium beers) has recently launched the Creazioni initiative with a series of cocktails invented by the collaborative team of Federico Riezzo (Head Mixologist, House of Peroni, London) and Luis Bustamante, Bar Manager & Mixologist, Metric Market, Barcelona). They jointly presented four tempting options there, ideal for the final days or summer / beginning of autumn.

The slightly fruity and effervescent flavour of Peroni Nastro Azzurro as well as its completely natural ingredients makes it ideal for mixing.  The Italian Nostrano Dell’Isola variety of wheat brings a smoother mre refreshig taste, balancing out the slight bitterness of the yeast and sweetness of the malt making for a excellent base ingredient for a cocktail.

  • Peroni Nastro Azzurro

     

    Metric Market is a lively and happening restaurant and bar located on Av. Diagonal (adjacent to Francesc Macia) founded by three young entrepreneurs. Since December 2014 Luis Bustamante has been working as the Bar Manager & Mixologist at Metric Barcelona, he is currently considered one of the most creative and imaginative bartenders in the world thanks to his victory at the Spanish final of the “World’s most Imaginative Bartenders Competition 2015”. Bustamante started his career at Barcelona’s Torre Rosa cocktail bar working with the renowned master Jordi Reig and subsequently went on to work at The Harbour Club and Sa Trinxa in Ibiza as well as Solange Cocktails and Ajoblanco in Barcelona.

  • Peroni Nastro Azzurro

     

    Andiamo Peroni

    Ingredients; Peroni Nastro Azzurro 150 ml, 50 ml fruit juice or puree of passion fruit, 100 ml cranberry juice, 50 ml vodka

    Preparation; Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker except for beer and shake vigorously. Add Peroni Nastro Azzuro last. Serve in a glass with ice.

    Glass; Long drink

  • Peroni Nastro Azzurro

     

    Peroni BCN

    Ingredients; Peroni Nastro Azzurro 125 ml, 25 ml pineapple juice 25 ml red pepper juice 20 ml orange sugar, 30ml lemon juice, 2 sprigs of cilantro, páprika.

    Preparation; Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker except for beer and shake vigorously. Add Peroni Nastro Azzuro, shake and strain. Serve in a glass with ice.

    Glass; Beer jug.

    To decorate; Lemon rind, a sprig of coriander and cayenne pepper.

  • Peroni Nastro Azzurro

     

    Sangría Peroni (1,5L)

    Ingredients; Nastro Azzurro Perroni 660 ml (66cl), rose syrup 40 ml, 100 ml gin, 200 ml Ginger Ale

    Preparation; Pour all ingredients into a jug and stir.

    Glass; Brandy glass.

    To decorate; Lemon, grapefruit, star fruit.

  • Peroni Nastro Azzurro

     

    Barceloneta

    Ingredients; 660 ml Perroni Nastro Azzurro, 2-3 tablespoons orange marmalade, lemon juice 30 ml 15-20 ml dark chocolate syrup.

    Preparation; Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker except for beer and shake vigorously. Add Peroni Nastro Azzuro, shake and strain. Serve in a glass with ice.

    Glass; Beer jug.

    To decorate; bitter chocolate flakes.
