Barcelona Klubbing

By Jordi Campo 12.11.13

Since last October 11th Number 141 C. Tarragona is home to the latest benchmark of Barcelona nightlife the new and improved: the Ker Club. Designed by Pure Sang it’s divided into two spaces. The first and foremost featuring electronic beats catering to a hardcore and underground club crowd, and the second called Ker Bar offering very drinkable cocktails pitched at a more general musical public with funk, soul and black music sounds.

Special mention should also be made of Toucán, Pappagayo (Parrot), Colibrí (Hummingbird) and Pelícano; these exotic birds name were used for the four VIP rooms where the privileged can dance the night away listening to the three resident DJs: Alex Pott, Ion Pananides and Smoke Signals. Not forgetting the future international artists lined up tovisit the Club.

This sophisticated new club space has a more personal story behind it, as it was conceived as a posthumous tribute to the Catalan artist Xavier Regàs and all his family. Not only because his work inspired by the designer of the place itself but also because of the other great Barcelona landmark clubs like Boccaccio of Muntaner, which at the end of the 60s represented the zenith of local culture and freedom and was key to the formation of the Gauche Divine.
