Independent Label Market en Barcelona
March 19th and 20th
Berwick Street is located in London’s SOHO district, a street famous for three things; its traditional food market which was featured on the album cover of Oasis’ Morning Glory (that many consider the Manchester brothers career best) and for being THE street for record shops in London, a must-visit for music fans and collectors visiting or living in this megalopolis. Founded back in 2011 partly thanks to the traditional activity on the street the Independent Label Market and whose mission is to bring the public the most recently pressed vinyl recordings from the top independent labels from both sides of the Atlantic, and in so doing providing a more social context and physical support during this era of buying online and downloading music in mp3 format.
This highly attractive idea spread way beyond the city limits of London and after having successfully extended to places as culturally active as Los Angeles, Berlin and Hamburg now it’s arriving in Barcelona for the first time between March 19th and 20th with more than 40 local and international labels and record stores in tow, with well known names such as Hivern Discs, the Latino electro sounds of Cómeme, or Awesome Tapes from Africa, spanning the musical spectrum from indie to electronic and all its subgenres.

Man does not live by music stalls alone, the event wil also feature a very carefully put together selection of DJs and music gurus from the local scene, as well as a series of talks with groups who are associated with what’s going on here like CANADA, Polybius and Playmoss, there’ll also be a choice of Street food and craft beers for anyone who gets hungry listening to music, as well as collecting. It’ll all be taking palce at the Espacio Crec on calle Blesa 27, within the as-yet ungentrified Poble Sec neighbourhood.
