On March 18th and 19th vinyl collectors and music lovers alike will have an excellent opportunity to add to their collections: the Independent Label Market is back in Barcelona where 40 of the best independent national and international record labels will be presenting their wares to the delight of anyone not-satisfied by streaming an mp3 file.

Among the confirmed labels are included, for example, Soul Jazz Records which since 1992 has been publishing exquisite compilations of various genres such as disco, house, hip hop, jazz, Brazilian popular music, etc., and are also responsible for the record resurrection of artists such as Arthur Russell, who perhaps reached a wider audience than ever before with the Soul Jazz compilation of 1994. Another guest label will be Brownswood Recordings, the label of the exquisite radio programmer and DJ Gilles Peterson, perhaps one of the greatest jazz experts And Brazilian music of the world. Also taking part this edition amongst the Spanish labels are BCore, Hivern Discs, La Castaña, and a long list of others, 40 in total.

    There’ll also be DJ sessions streamed live over dublab.es that also looks after the putting together of the programme of selectors including the ones from Favorite Recordings and Soul Jazz Soundsystem. There’ll be food and drink options, including the Jägermeister Cocktail Bar to name just one.

    And that’s not all, as well as the market activities there will also be a parallel programme of performances that includes Charles Maurice Dj of Favourite Recordings at the Marula cafe, a showcase from Klasse Recordings in Switch, and Ruby Tuesday (Brownswood) at the Casa Bonay, on Friday 17th ; and for Saturday 18th  music lovers can enjoy The Soul Jazz Records Sound System, who’ll be mixing 70’s sounds with funk, soul and disco at La [2] in Nitsa, while the Marco Boi Quintet will be taking the Marula café over with a live performance, and Rob Butler Dj (Spiritland/Brilliant Corners) takes control of the decks at 33/45. On that same day there’ll also be a presentation from MUD Festival under Guerssen Records at the Sala Barts; and another of the big acts taking place also this Saturday: Tim Sweeney himself, creator of the influential radio programme Beats in Space, under the Journeys parties series that are happening at the LOFT –Razzmatazz Clubs, on a sporadical basis.

    The main venue is at the CREC, C/ Blesa 27 at the heart of Poble Sec on March 18th and 19th from 12 midday till 8 in the evening, access is free.
