FIRE!! 2014 'We can be Heroes'
Casal Lambda Barcelona
Film Festival FIRE!! dedicates its latest edition to David Bowie and becomes the first LGBT film festival in Spain to go online. The latest edition of FIRE!! Mostra Internacional de Cinema Gai i Lesbià takes place this coming month of July in Barcelona and invites us to celebrate all things ‘Glam’ as an expression of freedom. With the iconic Bowie lyric ‘We can be Heroes’ the festival takes its cue from this extraordinary artists’ influence, his charismatic personality as both an ethical and aesthetic reference of being, feeling and creating.
Bowie is universal, a pop music icon and hero of cinema and fashion, a visionary with attitude; a total artist. With this new edition of FIRE!! the aim this year is to question attitudes towards bisexuality, breaking down accepted stereotypes of individual beauty, notions of bravery, emotions, compromise and individuality. As well as exploring our limits.
