CDLC celebrtaes its 10th year

By Brian Gallagher 21.11.13

Ten years ago when Paseo Marítimo and Marina Village, located underneath the Hotel Arts first began to come into its own as a key destination on Barcelona’s fervent nightlife scene Carpe Diem Lounge Club (CDLC) first opened its doors and immediately raised the bar for restaurant/clubs not only in the city but in Europe. Since then CDLC has become the favourite haunt of visiting and resident celebrities as well as discerning locals. Dutch entrepreneur and current owner of CDLC Robin Bravenboer (ex Barca player Patrick Kluivert was also originally a co-founder) created a space where Mediterranean and Asian traditions come together in both the gastronomic offering as well as the décor. Last November 8th the club celebrated its 10th anniversary with an all out party inspired by the Indian Diwali festival transforming itself into a Hindu market for the evening complete with belly-dancers and performances, Mistri from Bollywood The Cabaret provided instruction for the punters in Indian dance. The symbolic entrance fee of 10 Euros was collected for the worthy NGO Sonrisas de Bombay founded by journalist Jaume Sanllorente, which combats poverty and fights for human rights for some of the most deprived inhabitants of Bombay’s poorest neighbourhoods.

A team of resident Djs including the renowned Dennis Ferrer and invited guest Dj Camilo Franco kept the buzz going well into the early hours, a stellar guest list added to the media profile and one guest generously bought 55 bottles of Dom Perignon for the crowd. Another night for the annals of this Barcelona icon.
